We do a lot of short trips in California, usually on unpaved roads and often with our dogs.  California has a huge variety of landscapes, plants, and wildlife to explore, and we’ve found it pretty easy to get away from the crowds on National Forest, BLM lands, and National Parks.  Many of our trips follow routes in Sierra Nevada Byways or Backcountry Adventures Southern California--see the Resources page for more information on these books.  We list the trip number for any trips from these books.
